Whitelaw Old Home Day celebrating 60th anniversary

Claude B. Hertel, Sr., Whitelaw Old Home Day parade coordinator, implores people to attend this year’s festivities.

“Please attend this year’s crown jewel event – the 60th annual Whitelaw Old Home Day,” Hertel said. “The theme is ’60 diamond years in Whitelaw.”

Old Home Day will be held Aug 4, 2018, with the parade stepping off at 11 a.m. As in other years, the event features the ‘famous’ Bach/Dunbar chicken barbecue from 3 to 6 p.m. and entertainment all day into the evening.

There will be food, soda and water booths, a ‘fancy work’ booth, molasses baked goods, an ice cream wagon, homemade pies, old-fashioned country store, arcade games, church booths, Little Red Wagon rides, a bouncy house and other vendors.

The event culminates with the Erick D. Stevens Memorial Fireworks, sponsored by the Stevens family and ZEMS Ice Cream.
