E-ZPass On-the-Go tags available at Madison County DMV
In his 2108 state of the state address earlier this year, Gov. Andrew Cuomo touted state Thruway tolls will become cashless by 2020; he called for the removal of traditional toll booths and pledged to replace them with all-electronic tolling. E-ZPass On-the-Go tags are now available at the Madison County DMV.
“Now is the time to stop in and get an E-ZPass,” said Madison County Clerk Michael Keville. “We want to make sure the community is ready for the expansion of cashless tolling system-wide in 2020. E-ZPass is a tool that saves the customer time, money and produces less paper waste.”
E-ZPass On-the-Go tags are available for a one-time fee of $25; customers then register the tag online or by calling the number listed on the package. The $25 is credited to the customer’s account, and the tag becomes active in 24 hours.
Four dollars of every tag purchased in Madison County stays in the county.
According to the state Thruway Authority, E-ZPass is used for more than 73 percent of travel system-wide. E-ZPass is accepted in 16 states nationwide.
