Former Watertown couple arrested on sex abuse charges

State Police have arrested North Carolina residents Daniel Kemp, 49, and Shanynn L. Kemp, 50, formerly of Watertown, following a joint investigation with Fort Bragg Criminal Investigation Command.

Daniel Kemp was charged with (four counts) first-degree sodomy, a class B felony.  Shanynn L. Kemp was charged with (three counts) first-degree sodomy – victim under the age of 11 years old.

The arrests are the result of an investigation into a victim disclosing the abuse to the New York State Police and the Fort Bragg Investigation Command. The Kemps were foster parents in Jefferson County between February 1998 and December 2000.

State Police were assisted in this investigation by several agencies including Ft. Bragg Criminal Investigation Command, Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office and Harnett County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina.
