OPL and Friends Book Sale set for September
In step with Craft Days at the Madison County Historical Society, Oneida Public Library and the Friends of the Library are having a sale of donated books and DVDs at the library, inside and out, Saturday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On sale at bargain prices are bestselling fiction books, mysteries, large-type books, children’s books and DVDs. Hardbound books are $1 each; trade paperback books $.50 each; mass market books at four for a $1; children’s books at four for a $1; and DVDs at $1 apiece.

Troopers’ K-9 Unit to visit the OPL Sept. 8
On Saturday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m., New York State Troopers and one of their working dogs from the Canine Unit are coming to Oneida Public Library for a show and tell during Family Super Saturday.
The Troopers’ Canine Unit takes young donated dogs and puts them through a strenuous training period, according to the State Police. The dog and its new handler are teamed together and instructed in basic obedience and agility. Then the team specializes in narcotics or explosive detection, tracking, building searches, veterinary first aid or even land navigation (a map and compass course.
