Cazenovia business owner Liz Moran elected new Madison County Democratic Committee chairwoman
The Madison County Democratic Committee unanimously voted to elect Liz Moran as chair at its organizational meeting Sept. 20. Moran is a former Cazenovia town supervisor and a founding member of the local grassroots political advocacy group Cazenovia Call to Action.
“I am honored to take on this leadership role and look forward to helping strengthen our local Democratic party during my two-year term as chair,” Moran said. “It’s a critical time. We need to reach out to our friends and neighbors in Madison County and make sure that our elected officials, at all levels, represent our interests”
Moran is president and the principal scientist of EcoLogic, founded in 1997. She earned her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University. She has more than 30 years of professional experience in water resources management focused on lakes and watersheds.
In addition to her technical expertise, Moran has a deep understanding of the roles and concerns of local government: she served on the Cazenovia Town Board for eight years, including two terms as town supervisor and member of the Madison County Board of Supervisors.
She also serves on the Madison County IDA Board of Directors and SUNY Morrisville College Council.
