Canalside Talk planned for Oct. 25
On Thursday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m., the Canal Town Museum and the Canastota Public Library will present a talk by John Taibi entitled “A Soldier’s Journey Through the Heart of the Park.”
Taibi is known for his knowledge of railroads.
The presentation tells the story of John Taibi’s father, Sgt. John Salvatore Taibi, a World War II veteran, and his trip from Utica to Lake Placid on the New York Central Railroad, now the Adirondack Scenic Railroad.
John Salvatore Taibi and other veterans were sent to Lake Placid to reacclimate to normal life after living as prisoners of war overseas.
The event is free and open to the public at the library.
