Madison County Sheriff’s Office discover meth lab during traffic stop
On Oct. 8, 2018, at 8:40 p.m., Madison County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigators charged Patrick K. Sobel, 54, of 1000 Clifford Ave., Sylvan Beach, with first-degree criminal possession of methamphetamine manufacturing material (class E felony), third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine (class D felony) and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration.
While conducting a traffic stop, investigators located a one-pot meth lab inside his vehicle, along with several items that are commonly used to manufacture meth.
Sobel was arrested and arraigned in Sullivan Town Court. He was remanded to the Madison County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond. Sobel is scheduled to appear in Canastota Village Court Oct. 18, 2018, to answer the charges.
The state police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team responded to the scene to conduct the cleanup and collection of the lab and lab materials.
