The Rotary Club of the Mohawk Valley to host second annual holiday food drive
The Rotary Club of the Mohawk Valley is hosting their 2nd Annual Holiday Food Drive. To kick this event off Hannaford in Herkimer donated 50 lbs. of food to the Mohawk Valley Rotary Club Holiday Food Drive Friday, Nov. 2. The Mohawk Valley Rotary Club is accepting unexpired and non-perishable food items until Dec. 3
Customers simply leave their donation of unexpired and non-perishable goods in the boxes at the following locations Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce, Ilion Free Public Library, Frank J Basloe Library, Frankfort Free Library, Frankfort Village Office, Sorrento Pizzeria, Mohawk Village Market, Franco’s Pizza, M & T Bank, NBT Bank, GPO Federal Credit Union, AmeriCU, Adirondack Bank, Moose River Coffee, Berkshire Bank, Kinney Drugs Store in Ilion, and Melrose Supermarkets in Frankfort.
“The timing is important, with food banks, and pantries running low on donations before the winter holidays, when most school meal programs are suspended for winter breaks. The food drive has only grown in importance and in impact for Herkimer County residents.,” said Club President Elyse Enea Bellows.
Mohawk Valley Club Rotarians will bring the donations to the Salvation Army Food Pantry and the Catholic Charities Food Pantry serving Herkimer County. The Rotary Club will also happily accept donations of cash or check in support of this project.
Anyone interested in sending a monetary donation can mail it to Mohawk Valley Rotary Club at P.O. Box 222, Herkimer, N.Y. 13350. With all the many initiatives that complement each other, working together, hunger will be eliminated in Herkimer County.
