On Feb. 2, 2019, at approximately 1:23 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle in the town of Newburgh for multiple vehicle and traffic violations. While interviewing the driver, probable cause to search the vehicle was established.
The driver, Nagmuddin M. Eltobah, 41, of Utica, was found to be in possession of approximately 106 grams of Khat, a Schedule I controlled substance; he was arrested, transported and processed at SP Newburgh where he was charged with:
Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a stimulant) a class C felony, and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.
Eltobah was arraigned in Newburgh Town Court and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or bond. He is scheduled to return to Newburgh Town Court at 1 p.m. Feb. 7, 2019.
