Brindisi delivers valentines to local veterans

Congressman Anthony Brindisi (NY-22) delivered Valentine’s Day cards to local veterans at Sitrin Health Care in New Hartford Feb. 14, 2019, as part of Valentines for Vets, a program he launched to show appreciation for Upstate New York veterans.

Brindisi’s Utica and Binghamton offices collected more than 200 cards from individuals, families, students and schools across New York’s 22nd congressional district.

“I was honored to spend time with Upstate New York veterans today and deliver valentines to thank them for their service and sacrifice,” said Brindisi. “Our veterans put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms, and it is important that we honor them all year around. This is just one small way to say thank you.”

Improving resources, services and health care for Upstate New York veterans is one of Brindisi’s top priorities, who serves on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee; he was recently appointed to two subcommittees: the Subcommittee on Health and the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity.

He also is setting up a local Veterans’ Advisory Council to help bring Upstate New York veterans’ voices to Congress.

Brindisi recently passed an amendment to the Veterans’ Access to Child Care Act to ensure rural veterans who received their care at community-based outpatient clinics had access to cost-free child care.
