Assemblyman John Salka (R,C,Ref-Brookfield) is worried about a proposal to provide $500 million in taxpayer funds to fund health care for illegal immigrants. He said he law would provide undocumented adults with a small premium, while hard-working middle-class families foot the majority of the bill.
“I’ve worked in the health care field for a very long time, and proposals like this concern me greatly,” Salka said. “Our rural health care systems are underfunded and in desperate need of modernization and this is the focus that Albany comes up with?
“Give upstate New York this funding to provide improved health care to our taxpayers who desperately deserve it, rather than providing it for free to anyone who manages to break our laws and sneak into the country and the state.”
Assemblyman John Salka represents the 121st Assembly District, encompasses all of Madison County and portions of Oneida and Otsego counties.
What bill is he talking about? Can you report out a little better on political news? Number of the bill? Who is proposing it? Is this DeBlasio’s idea for NYC?
I agree with Nancy: What Bill? Mr. Salka’s predecessor had a solid reputation for working across the aisle and Mr. Salka promised to do likewise but all I see are press releases criticizing his fellow Assembly Members, the Senate and the Governor. At this rate, it’s hard to imagine he’s going to be able to bring our tax dollars back to this District.
