StoryLaurieMcIntosh(Oneida, NY – Nov. 2014) As a special treat for children of all ages, storyteller, songwriter and singer Laurie McIntosh, known as Story Laurie, is coming to Oneida Public Library on Monday Nov. 24 at 4 p.m. to “Celebrate the Harvest,” a free program of story and song, humor and thanksgiving sponsored by the Friends of the Oneida Public Library.

Story Laurie has made a name for herself in the Hudson Valley through her performances for children and adults at schools, libraries, festivals and historical societies. She specializes in humorous retellings of folk tales in which she acts out all the characters and performing her own songs, both comical and serious.

In her harvest celebration at the OPL, Story Laurie will weave the theme of thankfulness through story and song as a warm-up to the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday.

She has recently released a CD called “Groovin’ in the Garden,” which was produced by children’s music specialist Dean Jones. Among its 16 tracks are musical take-offs of classic American children’s songs like “Shoo-Fly” plus several of her own catchy and humorous songs.

Thanks to the Friends of the Library, Story Laurie’s program is free and open to the public.

For more information, stop by the Oneida Library, 220 Broad St., or call 363-3050.
