(Herkimer, NY – Aug. 2015) Herkimer County 4-H members completed a very successful week at the Herkimer County Fair. Members participated in animal shows as well as doing demonstrations in the youth building. Rabbits, dairy cattle, beef cattle, sheep and goats were shown with 4-H members taking top honors in these youth animal shows.
In the youth building, 4-H members with the help of some dignitaries competed in the “Smoothie Challenge” seeing who could put together the best tasting and most nutritious smoothie with the ingredients that were provided. NYS Senator Jim Seward and Herkimer County Legislator Raymond Johnson participated in the challenge working alongside the 4-H members helping create their masterpieces. Other demonstrations were also put on during the week, engaging fairgoers in the world of 4-H and all it has to offer.
The Herkimer County Fair culminates the 4-H year for many members and is a showcase for them to display the projects they have worked so hard on all year.
