Senator Rachel May (D-Onondaga, Madison, Oneida) announces $2.7 million in extreme winter recovery funding for the 53rd district. This funding is supplemental to the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program and helps local governments cover the costs of road and bridge maintenance and repair.
This critical funding was left out of the enacted budget for 2019-20 that was finalized April 1, 2019, but was added in the June supplemental capital budget.
“Extreme winter recovery funding provides necessary support to our local governments for maintaining the safety of our roads and bridges,” said May. “I pushed hard to ensure the inclusion of this in the final budget and am happy to see the full funding restored across the state, especially here in Central New York where we feel the effects of winter acutely.”
