On Aug. 30, 2019, between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Route 12 B in Hamilton. Deputies will stop vehicles at the checkpoint and look for any signs that the driver of the vehicle is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If the deputy observes any signs of impairment, the deputy will conduct field sobriety tests that may result in the arrest of the driver.

Checkpoints are conducted in an effort to deter people from getting behind the wheel when they are impaired by alcohol or drugs. The Sheriff’s Office conducts periodic checkpoints throughout the year in its efforts to combat impaired driving.
