(Morrisville, NY – Jan. 15, 2013) The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its student-athlete of the week selections, naming Morrisville State junior forward Rhamel Williams (Bronx, N.Y.) the men’s basketball athlete of the week for the week ending January 13.
Williams had a conference record breaking performance for the Mustangs last week, swiping a collegiate and conference-best 11 steals in the Mustangs 72-57 victory over Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, where he also finished with 16 points, a team high seven rebounds, three assists and a block. His effort came on the heels of a five steal performance in a 101-71 victory over SUNY IT, where Williams also snagged a game high 11 rebounds and tallied six points in just 20 minutes of action.
He finished the week averaging nearly a triple-double of 11 points, nine rebounds and eight steals, while shooting 56 percent (10-for-18) from the field in just 26 minutes per game.
The John F. Kennedy High graduate is majoring in sports, nutrition and fitness management at Morrisville State. He is the son of Zona Williams of the Bronx.
