(Utica, NY – Feb. 2013) The Utica Roadrunners and the Masonic Care Community of New York will sponsor a free Get Fit Expo on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Masonic Care Gym, 2150 Bleecker St., Utica.

Presentations and organizations represented will focus on those interested in developing healthy lifestyles of exercise and nutrition, as well as those already practicing regimens that promote fitness and wellness.

Organizer and Utica Roadrunners’ board member Karl Jones hopes that those who have procrastinated getting in shape or are intimidated by exercise and more active lifestyles will attend.

“We’re especially targeting folks of all ages who’ve put off becoming healthier, whatever their reasons,” Jones said. “We want to provide the impetus to get them motivated and then sustain a smart program of healthy choices and habits.”

Featured will be demonstrations and instructions on racewalking, led by local experts Ed Lee and Bob Nicholson, sessions on “Good Form Running” led by The Sneaker Store, and video gait analysis by Cornell Dartfish. In addition to numerous local road races for runners, a series of subsequent recreational and competitive walking events are being considered through the Utica Roadrunners.
