(Marcy, NY – Feb. 4, 2013)  On Saturday, Feb. 2 the New York State Police BCI in Marcy, in conjunction with the New York State Inspector General’s Office, arrested two women from New York City as they attempted to smuggle drugs into inmates at Marcy Correctional Facility.

Teresa E. Cortes, 62, of 2850 West 24th Street, Brooklyn was charged with fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and first-degree Promoting Prison Contraband, both felonies. She possessed 20 dosage units of the controlled substance “suboxone.” She was arraigned in the Town of Marcy Court and was committed to the Oneida County Jail on $15,000 bail.

Shanice I. Perez, 20, of 530 East 137th Street, Bronx was charged with second-degree Promoting Prison Contraband and fourth-degree Criminal Possession of Marijuana, both misdemeanors. She possessed approximately 31 grams of marijuana.  She also was arraigned in the Town of Marcy Court and was committed to the Oneida County Jail on $5,000 bail.
