(Chittenango, NY – March 2013) The Chittenango Lady Bears opened their season last Thursday at home with Tully. The visiting Black Knights ran the score up 17-1 early in the second half before the Lady Bears came out of hibernation to score five of the game’s last six goals in an 18-6 loss.
Kaitlin Antelmi scored three goals for Chittenango and Sierra Shafer, Lindsay Moon, Lea Clarke each added one. Alyssa Crane had seven saves in her first career start at goal.
Meanwhile, over in New Hartford, the Chittenango boys lacrosse came back from a fourth-period 8-6 deficit to defeat the Spartans 11-9. The Bears had not as much as a scrimmage this year going into the game against New Hartford who were already in their third match.
Devin Phelps tallied four goals and two assists along with Garrett Sadler’s three goals. Stephen Billington had two goals and an assist, Kyle Zimmer was 1-1 and Robert Whitten added a goal.
Goalie Connor Shea had seven saves in the net for the Bears in their season opener.
