(Canastota, NY – April 2013) Dr. Virinder Modgil opened his new dental practice in Canastota Feb. 21, which will also serve as his home with his wife, Neeraj and their 4-year-old twins.

Modgil opened Camden Dental in January of 2009. He and his family previously lived in Syracuse, but last year the couple purchased the home at 337 N. Peterboro St. in Canastota. They moved in eight months ago and renovations began for a second dental practice. An addition was built and will serve as the family’s residence.

Neeraj said the couple was looking to purchase a home in Camden but after extensive research they fell in love with the area.

“We love the location,” Neeraj said. “It’s next to the school, church and the Thruway. We’ve had a wonderful welcome to Canastota.”

Prior to owning his own practice, Modgil was an associate dentist and also worked for a company that provides life supports system for people with developmental disabilities. He’s been practicing dentistry since 1994.

Modgil’s Canastota office will be open Thursdays and Fridays and he is currently accepting new patients.

General dentistry procedures include extractions, minor oral surgery procedures, surgical placement of dental implants and cosmetic surgery. His practice accepts numerous forms of insurance.

Modgil’s beginnings come from his home country of India, where he studied physics, chemistry, biology, zoology and botany. He completed his bachelor’s degree in dentistry in 1994 and began an internship immediately. His advanced studies landed him at the University of Southern California. He completed his residency at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare in Utica.

Modgil has also completed numerous advanced study programs. He’s board certified and has memberships with the American Dental Association and American Association of Implant Dentistry.

He is fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi and some Spanish.

Modgil said he wants to practice dentistry as team with patient as the main player.  He would treat his patient as he would his own family members, understanding each patient’s unique needs.

“We strive to be creative, while showing compassion, sincerity and respect,” Modgil said. “We are dedicated to provide high quality dentistry keeping current with modern concepts and technique and always keeping our patient’s well being and comfort foremost.”
