(Cazenovia, NY- April 2013) “Slow Down and Enjoy the Art” Saturday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Cazenovia Public Library Museum and Gallery. The Cazenovia Public Library will join ranks with hundreds of institutions worldwide – from Austin, Texas, to Auckland, New Zealand, for Slow Art Day.
Slow Art Day began in 2009 as a single event at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. This year, more than 200 galleries across the world will be participating.
Studies have found that people spend, on average, as little as eight seconds on any one work in a museum. Slow Art Day challenges participants to spend five, 10 or even 15 minutes in front of a single artwork and then get together, have lunch and talk about it.
And, all this happens the same day around the world.
To participate in Cazenovia Public Library Museum’s Slow Art Day, register at www.slowartcazenovia2013.eventbrite.com/. Participants will receive an email two weeks before the day with details about the artworks to view.
Works will be chosen from the Cazenovia Public Library’s permanent collection and the current exhibition, Impressions of a Friendship: Dwight Williams and Arthur B. Davies on view in the library’s gallery through May 31.
The artworks will then be discussed at lunch at the Circa restaurant on Albany Street at 1 p.m.
