(Cazenovia, NY – April 22, 2013) Senior Alicia Priest (Camillus, N.Y.) set a new mark for the Cazenovia College women’s lacrosse program in their 19-1 victory over Wilson College Sunday afternoon.
With her 11 goals on the day Priest established a new record for goals in a season with 80 (the previous record of 78 goals was set in 2012 by ’12 graduate Christy Foster). 11 goals ties her own record for most goals scored in a single game set earlier this year versus Penn State Abington.
The win pushes the Cazenovia record to 7-5 as they look to make a push towards the North Eastern Atletic Conference (NEAC) tournament with a 4-2 record so far in NEAC play. Wilson falls to 0-9 on the season (0-7 NEAC).
Kim Vrigian (Clifton Park, N.Y.), Hannah Delaware (Haverhill, Mass.), and Cassie Smock (Corning, N.Y.) each scored two goals for the Wildcats, while Anna Cariello (Middletown, N.Y.) and Taylor Haesaert (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) scored one goal a piece.
Christina Marra (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) was stellar in goal for the Wildcats turning away nine of the eleven Phoenix shot attempts for the victory. Vrigian also proved to be a stallworth on the defensive side of the field with four caused turnovers and seven ground balls.
The Wildcats travel to SUNYIT on Wednesday night for their next contest. The game will be played under the lights with a 7 p.m. start.
