(Utica, NY – April 2013) The National Distance Running Hall of Fame announces the dedication of the 2013 Commercial Travelers’ National Distance Running Hall of Fame Race to honor and commemorate the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.  A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The One Fund on behalf of the Boston Athletic Association. Runners registering online will also be able to make additional donations to The One Fund.

“We wanted to do something to help out the B.A.A.,” said Tim Reed, the Executive Director of the National Distance Running Hall of Fame. “The Boston Marathon has hosted ten of the announcement of our Induction Class.

The National Distance Running Hall of Fame was established in 1998. In all, nineteen of the thirty-nine inductees are Boston Marathon alumni. The National Distance Running Hall of Fame has put ribbons on the plaques of all inductees who have run the Boston Marathon.

The Commercial Travelers’ National Distance Running Hall of Fame Races will take place on Sunday, May 19 at 8 a.m. The various races offer a Half Marathon, 2-Person Relay or a 5K. All the proceeds from the race go to support the National Distance Running Hall of Fame and this year The One Fund on behalf of the B.A.A.  The Race was established in 1999 by the Utica Roadrunners to support the new Hall of Fame.
