(Cazenovia, NY – May 2013) All of us know that today’s libraries are about much more than books and, through continued community support, the Cazenovia Public Library has been able to expand its collections, programs, exhibitions and services to meet the ever-changing needs of the people in this area.

One of the Library’s many services is wireless access as well as 12 computer-research databases, including the new Ancestry.com genealogy database.

Sponsoring the adult literacy program has been an ongoing success story at the library. Under the leadership of Literacy Coordinators Cindy McCall and Carla Zimmerman, the adult literacy program continues to grow by reaching more and more of the under-served literacy needs in our area.

In addition to being a center of knowledge, the Cazenovia Public Library is also a center of culture with events and programs filling the Community Room every day. The Library’s Art Gallery features rotating exhibits year-round on diverse art forms, and while the Museum of Curiosities is modest in size, it covers more than 2,000 years of history.

“Visitors to our library often say that Cazenovians can be proud of their library and what it has to offer,” said Director Betsy Kennedy. “We are so grateful to everyone in the community for this wonderful support, and I hope you will remember to vote on the library proposition May 21. With our staff and countless volunteers, we are committed to carrying this pride forward through continued and expanded services that are enjoyed by nearly 400 people every day.”

Library Offers Free Library Alerts

The library is excited to offer its patrons free “Wowbrary” email alerts that showcase the library’s newest items each week. The alerts feature the latest bestsellers, movies, music CDs, audio books, children’s titles, cookbooks, mysteries, travel guides, health books, science fiction and more, all purchased by the library.

“This is a great new way to enjoy and use your public library,” Kennedy said. “People are truly amazed when they see in one place just how many great new titles we purchase each week, which they can reserve and borrow at no cost. And we cover all age groups and many diverse interests.”

Kennedy also notes that the new Wowbrary alerts are extremely convenient and quickly show what’s new, whether checked out or not, all from the convenience of your home, work, or school computer.

The alerts help those interested in specific topics, as well. It only takes a mouse click, for example, to see the newest arrivals appropriate for your child or teen. There’s a separate section on parenting, and teachers can quickly spot new resources for their classes.

Wowbrary alerts are free and do not require a library card; for more information or to sign up,  visit wowbrary.org.

For more information about Wowbrary or other services at the Cazenovia Public Library, call 315.655.9322 or visit cazenoviapubliclibrary.org.

The library is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Parking is available in back of the library off of Riverside Drive, and handicapped-accessible parking is available on Albany Street.

Residents and visitors alike are invited to come often and stay late. You’re sure to see a friend at the library or make a new one.
