Madison-Oneida BOCES
(Madison County, NY – May 2013) Nine seniors in the Madison-Oneida BOCES Allied Health Partnership program demonstrated their knowledge, research abilities and public speaking skills by delivering presentations on a disease or disorder to staff members of Oneida Healthcare Center May 17.
Students were challenged by teacher Tracy Merrell to select a disease or disorder that interests them, piques their curiosity or affects their friends and families and complete in-depth research. Topics ranged from meningitis and melanoma to Wilson’s Disease and neurofibromatosis.
Students delivered 10- to 15-minute presentations about their selected topic. In addition to hospital staff, parents and families, BOCES teachers and area school district representatives attended.
