(Town of Lincoln, NY – June 4, 2013) Did you know agricultural plastics, pizza boxes, and empty aerosol cans are recyclable in Madison County? This wasn’t always the case until the Madison County Solid Waste Department saw a need and was able to tap into markets to dispose of these wastes. One way we find out what needs we have in our county is simply to ask. This summer the Madison County Department of Solid Waste and Sanitation will be conducting a Recycling and Waste Management Study of Madison County Businesses and Agencies.
“We’ve done a good job with our residential recycling efforts,” said James Zecca Director of the Madison County Dept. of Solid Waste and Sanitation. “Now we want to contact Madison County businesses and agencies to see what their needs are for recycling waste materials.”
The purpose of the study is to gather information regarding current practices and future needs of Madison County businesses and agencies for recycling waste materials. Your answers will help us gather accurate data and plan future recycling projects.
Businesses and agencies will be receiving an email survey during the first two weeks in June. Please take a few moments to complete it so we can help address any needs you have for recycling and waste management. If you are a business owner who wants to participate and you don’t receive a survey, please contact Mary Bartlett, Recycling Assistant at 361-8409 to request one.
Results will be used to determine current and future needs for recycling and waste management programs in Madison County. The information will not be used for any other purpose. All survey respondents will receive a free recycling bin for their business or office.
Mary Bartlett is recycling assistant for Madison County Landfill.
