Director of Ticket Operations Arrives from Syracuse’s MISL Franchise
(Hamilton, NY – July 17, 2013) Colgate Athletics this month welcomed Kenny Copps as the department’s Director of Ticket Operations and Assistant Director of Marketing and Promotions.
A Syracuse native, Copps most recently completed one season as director of ticket and group sales for the Syracuse Silver Knights of the Major Indoor Soccer League. He also served the franchise as summer camps manager, social media manager and public address announcer, the latter since November 2011.
With the Silver Knights, Copps managed all aspects of the online order processing, distribution and tracking. He organized and updated game-day script and in-game sponsor promotions, and closed group sales to increase attendance at home games.
In addition, Copps was proficient at generating interest and fan discussion through persistent use of social media and by scheduling team appearances in the community.
Copps transitions well into the Raiders game-day atmosphere, having contributed the last three years as a public address announcer for several Colgate venues.
“We are very excited about the addition of Kenny to the Colgate athletics family,” Associate AD Shaun Richard said. “He comes with a great understanding of ticket operations and marketing and promotions experience, along with knowledge of our community and the surrounding areas. We enjoyed working with Kenny in the past as a frequent member of our home game support staff. Now fans get to hear his voice on the phone when they call for tickets.
A 2011 communications and history graduate from Le Moyne College, Copps also has worked for The Virtucom Group in Syracuse, Coyne Textile Services in Syracuse, and Global Phoenix Computer & Technology Services Inc., in Ithaca.
“It’s a tremendous honor and blessing to be associated with such a great group of people here at Colgate,” Copps said. “Sports are my passion, and I enjoy working in ticketing, so this position is a perfect fit.
“Plus with a new athletic facility coming soon and the recent expansion of the Patriot League, I couldn’t think of a better or more exciting time to be coming on board.”
