The Brookfield Town Board sat before a packed house at its regular meeting July 8. Most folks attended to speak on the topic of the town’s proposed comprehensive plan.

To the Editor:E-23-2013 mccmc (Letters)

(Brookfield, NY – Aug. 2013) I am very upset regarding the June 26 Planning Board meeting. I was unable to attend that meeting; let’s start at the June 6 Planning board meeting, which I did attend.

The comprehensive plan was presented by Marylou Rhodes, chairwoman of the Planning Board, and Karen Beehm, co-chairwoman of the Comprehensive Plan Committee, for all the members to review and bring suggestions to the June 26 meeting.

Before the meeting was adjourned, I asked if there was any person sitting at this table who was “opposed” to the Comprehensive Plan.

There were none.

Meeting was adjourned.

In review of the letters to the editors in the local newspapers dated July 3, the true story of the June 26 meeting was printed. I am so disappointed in the actions of the Planning Board members and their conduct at the meeting – unspeakable.

There is NO EXCUSE for their outbursts.

With all that being said, let’s get to the heart of what I want to say.

First of all, a lot of labor by many hardworking volunteers from our community has gone into the Comprehensive Plan development for approximately four years. All of a sudden, close the book with the comprehensive plan: NO WAY.

Let’s all listen to “the other side of the story” in a public meeting with the Comprehensive Plan Committee and ask everyone who lives in the town of Brookfield and cares about their community to attend.

The comprehensive plan is very important for the future of the town of Brookfield.
