Cazenovia library new(Cazenovia, NY – Aug. 2013) During September and October, Kathryn McCauley, Technology Librarian at Mid-York, will again conduct several technology classes at the Cazenovia Public Library.

Two iPad classes will be available.  The first class on “iPad Basics” will be taught on Monday, Sept. 9 from 3 to 4:30 pm.  This class will provide the opportunity for users to address their iPad issues.  General use, functions, compatible apps, trouble-shooting, and any other concerns will be covered.  Bring your iPad or iPad mini and your questions.

In the second iPad class on Thursday, Sept. 12 from 3 to 4:30 pm, students will learn how to use additional apps.

On Monday, Sept. 9 “Job Search Skills 1” will be held from 6 to 8:30 pm with “Job Search Skills 2” to follow on Thursday, Sept. 12 also from 6 to 8:30 pm.  This two-part class focuses on basic job search and computer skills.  While any job seeker will find useful information in this class, it is designed particularly for those who struggle to complete the technology-related tasks required in a modern job search.

“Jobs Search Skills 1” will cover basic Microsoft Word skills to create a cover letter and resume.  “Job Search Skills 2” will include information about using e-mail and online forms plus using the online resource Learning Express Library.  During this class, students will have the opportunity to create a Learning Express account for more help with their job search.

The technology classes conclude on Thursday, Oct. 10 with two Social Networking sessions.  The first “Social Networking Personal” will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 pm and the second “Social Networking Business” from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.   During these classes, participants will learn to use social networking tools to connect with friends and family or to promote their businesses.  The basics of Facebook and Twitter will be covered as well as creating an account, updating profiles and postings, and navigating privacy settings.

These technology classes are made possible through a generous gift from local supporters. To reserve a spot, stop by the library or call 655-9322.
