(Wampsville, NY – Aug. 2013) The Madison County Health Department is pleased to invite the community to a ribbon cutting for AgeNet on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. at the Madison County Health Department in Wampsville.
AgeNet is a digital communication network that allows community and health organizations to share information and resources with the public on site. Events, announcements, health and emergency alerts, weather, and presentations on health and wellness are posted on flat screen televisions in the lobby or community room of AgeNet sites.
The Health Department will be the fifth site to introduce AgeNet in the County. AgeNet is up and running at Madison County Office for the Aging, Inc., Oneida YMCA, Oneida Towers, and Madison-Cortland ARC. Plans are in the works to bring AgeNet to Oneida Healthcare Center and Community Memorial Hospital.
“AgeNet is a valuable new way for the department to reach the community with health and wellness information, from nutrition and breastfeeding resources to community events and health clinics,” says Cheryl Geiler, the Health Department’s Director of Community Health Services and AgeNet site coordinator.
Join County Supervisors and Senator David Valesky in the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Health Department to see what AgeNet has to offer. Learn about future plans for AgeNet becoming its own channel that will be available on all televisions in the sites.
For more information on how to post events, announcements, or health and wellness information on AgeNet, contact the site coordinator at each AgeNet location.
