Bookstore hosts pizza-themed book party for kids
(Hamilton, NY – Sept. 2013) The Colgate Bookstore will host a pizza & book party on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10:30 a.m. in the Class of 2003 Events Room (third floor) at 3 Utica Street. This program is open to children of all ages, although the stories are mainly geared towards ages 4-8. The event is free, and a pizza & salad lunch will be provided, but space will be limited to 30 participants and advance sign-up is recommended at 315-228-6944 or www.colgatebookstore.com/pizza.
Silly stories (and a poem) about pizza will be followed by a mask-decorating craft and a pizza luncheon. The featured stories will include:
Secret Pizza Party by Adam Rubin. Raccoon loves pizza. He loves the gooey cheesy-ness, salty pepperoni-ness, sweet tomato-ness, and of course the crispity-crunchity crust. But someone is always chasing poor Raccoon away from his favorite food with a broom. What’s a hungry raccoon to do? Plan an elaborate secret pizza party, of course.
A Pizza the Size of the Sun by Jack Prelutsky. This is a wondrously tasty–and always funny–collection of more than 100 poems for readers of every age, including the title poem about “a pizza that’s sure to weigh more than a ton” with everything on it.
The Princess and the Pizza by Mary Jane Auch. When she hears that Prince Drupert is looking for a princess to marry, Princess Paulina can’t pass up the opportunity to put her princessing skills into practice. But when she’s faced with the task of cooking a feast fit for a prince, she fears that not even her royal lineage can save her.
