(Morrisville, NY – Sept. 25, 2013) The Morrisville State College has named senior runner Billie Jo Hinds (Blossvale, N.Y.) and junior quarterback Lemar Johnson (Ossining, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sept. 22.
Hinds claimed her first win of the 2013 season at the six-kilometer Hobart Invitational on Saturday, besting the field of 67 runners with a finish time of 24:49.5, nearly a minute ahead of the second place finisher.
The senior is majoring in human performance and health promotion at Morrisville State and hails from Blossvale, N.Y.
Johnson was key to the Mustangs 28-25 win over St. Lawrence on Saturday, completing 12-of-18 passes for 125 yards and four touchdown scores, adding to his tallies 126 net yards rushing on 17 attempts, accounting for 251 of Morrisville States 411 total yards offense.
Trailing 10-7 at the half, Johnson sparked the Mustangs offensive attack in the third quarter, completing 8-of-9 passes for two scores to give Morrisville State the edge and eventual win over the visiting Saints.
The junior is a graduate of Ossining High and is majoring in liberal arts and sciences: humanities and social science at Morrisville State. He is the son of Esther Barrett of Ossining.
