(Morrisville, NY- Sept. 26, 2013) A 13-year tradition brought friends Vicki Crane and Joy Richwine to Morrisville State this year.
The two traveled from a small town near Poughkeepsie to cheer on their sons, members of the Morrisville State football team, during the college’s festive Mustang Weekend celebration.
Clad in college gear, Crane and Richwine made their way to the campus bookstore to purchase Mustang regalia prior to the game that ended with a victory against St. Lawrence University.
It’s been an exciting 13 years for the mother-duo who follow their sons’ games every opportunity they can. Jonathan Crane and Andrew Richwine started playing on the same football team when they were 5 years old. That continued through high school and then on to college at Morrisville State where they are also both sports nutrition and fitness management majors.
Mustang Weekend festivities were open to Morrisville State students, family members, faculty, staff, alumni, emeriti, and members of the local community. Highlights included a Madison Hall 5k run, antique tractor display, environmental sciences dinner and expo, lacrosse games, complimentary chair massages, and a campus community picnic and carnival.
A black Alpaca named Cinco entertained children along with a donkey and various goats from the Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo. Out of the Cage Pet Mobile, a traveling exotic petting zoo, also provided educational information on a variety of animals.
Auto enthusiasts enjoyed a cruise-in with hot rods and antique cars. They also had the chance to test their vehicle’s torque on the college’s dynamometer.
The Central New York Antique Tractor Club was among those displaying tractors along with Morrisville State students from various programs. There was also a 50-year anniversary dinner for the Class of 1963.
