(Oneida, NY – Oct. 2013) James W. Furney will come to the Oneida Public Library Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. to give a retrospective of his life and writings, including his autobiographies “Uncertain Roads” (2009) and “The Road Back.”
“Uncertain Roads” recounts his early life, when he became homeless at the age of 10 and began a vagabond’s life, including enlistment in the U.S. Armed Forces and imprisonment for theft.
“The Road Back” follows Furney’s life afterward as he starts up his own business, marries and starts a family.
His recent work is an illustrated series called “Unsung Heroes on the Backroads of America.”
