Colgate Men’s Lacrosse Participating in Four-Team Scrimmage at Siena
(Hamilton, NY – Oct. 2013) Colgate is scheduled to take part in a four-team men’s lacrosse scrimmage, youth clinic and fundraiser at Siena College benefitting the nonprofit Wounded Warrior Project.
The Raiders meet the host Saints in the Division I game, set for Sunday, Oct. 13, at 10 a.m. Division III foes Skidmore and Western New England play the second game at noon, followed by a consolation game at 2 and the championship contest at 4.
Additionally, a wounded warrior alumnus will address the crowd at 1:30 p.m.
“I am so very excited to be a part of this event,” Colgate head coach Mike Murphy said. “As a former assistant at a service academy, I know what it means to send young men to serve our great country. The Wounded Warrior Project makes sure our service men and women are never forgotten when they come home.
“My staff, our players and I are so humbled to be able to support such an outstanding organization like the Wounded Warrior Project.”
Events start with a free youth clinic from 8-9:30 a.m. at Siena Turf Field, sponsored by Under Armour and fun by former three-time All-Americans and current Major League Lacrosse stars Grant Catalino and Garrett Thul. Student-athletes and coaches from the four schools will join in and participate with the clinic.
“We want to thank Siena, Western New England and Skidmore for joining us in this event,” Murphy said. “I have such great respect for John Svec, John Klepacki and Pat Hart. They are great friends, great coaches and better men. Their programs stand for what is right in college athletics and I know our friends at WWP are excited to start what we all hope will be a great annual event.”
