(Oneida, NY – Oct. 2013) Jim O’Mahony, Max McKee and Karl Sterling of the Jim O’Mahony Trio will perform the music from the cult hit album “Nevermind” by the legendary rock band Nirvana at Oneida Public Library Saturday afternoon at3 p.m., Oct. 19.

The trio will play O’Mahony’s take on the seminal 1991 album, which sparked the alternative rock genre and eventually sold 30-million copies worldwide. Critics have pointed to “Nevermind” as introducing alternative rock into the mainstream, while Rolling Stone and Time magazines have listed it as one of the greatest albums in recording history.

O’Mahony, while keeping Nirvana’s musical structures, makes the songs his own, adding extra measures, changing tempos and improvising whole sections.

O’Mahony, who moved to Oneida in 2010, brings his special blend of music to the area through teaching guitar, piano and drums and performing either as a soloist, in a duo or in company with regional and national bands. He regularly performs with the band Grupo Pagan, vocalist Anna Vogel and the MOD Trio. He recently performed at the Food and Wine Festival in Greenwich, Conn., alongside Ian Murray and the indie/roots band Dispatch.

Max McKee is a versatile instrumentalist who has recorded electric bass, acoustic and electric guitar as well as percussion on more than 15 records with local and national recording artists. Since graduating from S.U.N.Y. at Oswego in 2007, McKee has done three national tours, playing original rock and roots music, and accompanied the likes of guitarist Mike Stern, the Wild Magnolias of New Orleans and vocalist Anwar Robinson. He is active in many Central New York bands and studio recording.

Karl Sterling studied percussion with John Barker at Onondaga Community College as well as with Danny D’Imperio, Joe Morello, Mike Melito, Wilby Fletcher, Mick Lewander and Peter Erskine. He has played with a wide range of talented regional musicians and bands

The concert is free. For more information, stop by the Oneida Library, 220 Broad St., or call 363-3050.
