Cazenovia library new(Cazenovia, NY – Oct. 2013) The “Open Afternoon Book Club” for adults continues in the Cazenovia Public Library Story Garden on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.  All are welcome.

This month the group is reading The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, chosen in light of the just released documentary film entitled SALINGER and the accompanying book with the same title by David Shields and Shane Salemo.

Published in 1951, The Catcher in the Rye is the influential and widely acclaimed story about two days in the life of 16-year-old Holden Caulfield after he has been expelled from prep school.  Confused and disillusioned, he searches for truth and rails against the “phoniness” of the adult world.  He ends up in a psychiatrist’s office, exhausted and emotionally ill.  After he recovers from his breakdown, Holden relates his experiences to the reader. (Amazon.com)

The “Open Afternoon Book Club” is free and open to the public.  Books are available at the circulation desk and all are welcome.
