Matt Urtz for web(Madison, NY – Oct. 2013) The Town of Madison Historical Society presents “Lost Industries in Madison County” by Matt Urtz, Madison County Historian on Monday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Madison Historical Society building, South Street in Madison.

Matt’s presentation features industries from the 19th and 20th centuries that used to be prosperous throughout the county but have vanished through the years. Starting with early glass production, the talk weaves through industries like tower clock production, cigar manufacturing and boat production and continues into WWII-era manufacturing.  This talk covers a number of different industries and features photos, stories and more.

The public is invited to attend the historical society’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. and then stay for Matt’s  presentation at 7.

Refreshments follow with a chance to talk to the speaker.

This program is part of the Town of Madison Speaker Program and is free, but donations are accepted.
