(Canastota, NY – Oct. 2013) The Friends of the Canastota Public Library are busy preparing for this year’s annual Book Sale.  The sale, which will be held Oct. 24, 25 and 26 is certain to be the largest book sale yet.

Volunteers make this event a special one for the library.  The Friends of the Library is made up of volunteers who have helped to prepare for the sale and also work the many hours for the sale.  Raffle baskets are designed by several members of the Friends of the Library and donated in an effort to earn additional revenues.  As well, a local organization, Ralston Supply Company will provide the tables needed to hold this event.

Weeks before this event, volunteers begin preparing for the sale.  They work diligently to separate donated books by author and by interest.  Prior to the event, volunteers from the Friends group also begin setting up tables and carting books to display in various areas in the lower level of the library.

This year, bargain shoppers can find gently used books, both fiction and non-fiction for readers of all ages; books on CD and cassettes; movies on DVD and VHS tape; puzzles, library totes and note cards and a large variety of raffle baskets.  Individuals and families can also show their support by joining the Friends of the Library Group.  Forms for this will be available at the sale.

The money raised through this sale is always used to benefit the library’s programs, collection or enhance the building and services that the library offers.

Times for the sale are Thursday, Oct. 24 from 9am – 8:30pm; Friday, October 25 from 9am – 5pm and Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10am – 4pm.

The Canastota Public Library is located at 102 W. Center Street in Canastota.
