(Wampsville, NY – Oct. 15, 2013) Denise Roe has been appointed to the Region 6 New York State Archives Advisory Committee for another term, ending Aug. 31, 2017.
The New York State Archives was established in 1971 and opened its doors to the public in 1978 as a program of the NY State Education Department, with its main facility located in the Cultural Education Center on Madison Avenue in Albany. There it cares for and provides access to more than 200 million documents that tell the story of New York from the seventeenth century to the present.
From its main facility, it also administers statewide programs that reach out to state agencies, local governments and community organizations.
In addition, archives staff is located in nine regional offices around the State to address the archives and records management concerns of every area of the State.
Region 6 encompasses the counties of Madison, Otsego, Delaware, Chenango, Cortland, Broome, Tioga, Tompkins, Chemung and Schuyler.
Roe has managed the archives and digitization grants projects through the Madison County Clerk’s Office since 2006. She holds a Master’s of Public Administration degree from Marist College. She resides in Hamilton.
