letterstotheeditorTo the Editor:

(Oct. 22, 2013) As my time as the Town of Fenner Supervisor approaches its end, I want to thank you for your support, friendship and input toward making the Town of Fenner a great place to live, raise families, run a business and most importantly, a great place to call home!

At the same time, I want to thank Hank Stoker for his many years of service on the Town Council.  Hank has always been a common sense independent thinker who listened to comments from residents and worked along with other members of the town board to move Fenner forward, while preserving the rural landscape and way of life.  Thanks Hank – it has been a pleasure.

While there is change ahead for the Town of Fenner, there are also candidates with experience rooted in a history of dedicated service to the Fenner community.  I have had the opportunity to work alongside Dave Jones and Hannah Strack and appreciate their demonstrated commitment by giving their time, effort and unique backgrounds and perspective to the betterment of our town.  The town is debt-free, has established strong reserves, the highway department has grown and improved, online access to town information is now available, all while reducing the tax rate.

Dave has a background in town business that will allow him to hit the ground running as Town of Fenner Supervisor in January, he knows his way around the issues of the town budget, highway department and perhaps most importantly, the people and way of life.  Dave is honest, trusted and dependable.  Dave is well prepared to take this background to Wampsville and be a strong advocate for Fenner residents as he serves on the County Board of Supervisors and its various committees.

Hannah has also served on the town board for several years, her background in the construction/ excavation business brings deep knowledge of operating and maintaining heavy equipment, which offers great insights to the operation of our highway department.  Her perspective and decisions have helped operate our town government as a fiscally responsible business by keeping a watchful eye on expenses and revenues.  Hannah is able to stand her ground for what is right after listening and weighing all sides of an issue.

Bill Cody offers a fresh perspective to the board.  He is a life-long resident with a multi-generation history in the town.  Bill will bring a youthful outlook, raising a young family and running a farm business in the town, which makes him a perfect representative of Fenner residents. He understands the way of life in our town, the importance of continually improve our economic standing, and the need to work with other entities such as neighboring towns and school districts on a bipartisan level to maintain our valued way of life for this and future generations.

When you cast your vote on November 5, I hope you will join me in supporting Dave Jones for Town Supervisor and Hannah Strack and Bill Cody for Town Council.  Each is individually qualified for these positions.  I also encourage you to remain interested in town government after the election is over; attend board meetings, visit the town website and provide feedback to your town board.
