(Canastota, NY – Nov. 2013) Parker Filer, the Agricultural Labor Specialist with NYS Department of Labor assigned to Madison County is coming on Thursday, Dec. 5 to discuss labor issues on dairy farms. This is a long-overdue follow-up to a discussion I had with dairy producers last year.

We’ll meet for lunch (on-your-own) at Graziano’s Restaurant, 409 North Peterboro St. in Canastota beginning at noon.

Topics to be discussed:

1.      Employee Agreements – what’s required, etc.

2.      Implications of the Wage Theft Prevention Act

a.      Written notice (English & Spanish) of rates of pay, pay frequency, allowances for lodging, food, etc.

b.      For all new hires & annually for all other employees.

3.      Minimum Wage Increase January 1, 2014.

4.      Your questions for Parker.
