(Oneida, NY – Nov. 5, 2013) State Police in Oneida announce the arrest of (2) 15 and (1) 16 year-old males) for second-degree Unlawful Surveillance, a class “E” felony and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class “A” misdemeanor.
The arrests stem from an investigation that began on Oct. 13 when a parent of one of the victims alerted State Police regarding allegations that three high school boys secretly videotaped seven girls changing into their bathing suits.
There were three incidents that occurred at two separate locations in the Towns of Sullivan and Cazenovia between July 21, 2013 and Aug. 31, 2013 in Madison County.
Names of the 15 year-olds arrested will not be released due to their age. Both were issued Family Court Appearance tickets.
The sixteen year-old arrested is expected to be adjudicated as a Juvenile Offender. All three were issued Family Court Appearance Tickets.
§Sec. 250.45 Unlawful surveillance in the second degree.
A person is guilty of unlawful surveillance in the second degree when:
3. (a) For no legitimate purpose, he or she intentionally uses or installs, or permits the utilization or installation of an imaging device to surreptitiously view, broadcast or record a person in a bedroom, changing room, fitting room, restroom, toilet, bathroom, washroom, shower or any room assigned to guests or patrons in a motel, hotel or inn, without such person’s knowledge or consent.
