Hamilton Public Library News

By Hilary Virgil, Library Director

(Hamilton, NY – Jan. 2014) Come visit us on Saturday, Feb. 1 and help celebrate “Take Your Child to the Library Day.”  Now in its third year, this annual event is held nation-wide on the first Saturday in February.  We hope you’ll join us for a special visit with local children’s book author Alicia Klepeis in the Community Room from 11 a.m. to noon.  Alicia will share crafts, and activities to go along with her newly published book about Africa.

Families may also stop by the library anytime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to make a craft for Groundhog Day, help with our “What We Love About Our Library” display, and enjoy a snack courtesy of the Friends of the Library.  If you need a library card, or are thinking of getting one for your child, this is a great time to sign up!

Did you know that the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) meets in the Community Room of the Hamilton Public Library on the second Tuesday of each month?  The clinic is open from 9:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. If you have questions or would like to make an appointment with their staff members, please call 363-3210.  We have four community members who routinely volunteer their time to support this program by operating a reading corner to help promote early literacy and entertain children while they wait at the clinic.  These dedicated volunteers are looking for substitutes to help them occasionally.  If you are interested in volunteering in this capacity please contact Susan at 824-0209.

Additional information about library resources, programs and policies, as well as access to our online services, is available through the library website http://midyorklib.org/hamilton/.  From the website, you can also sign up for our listserv and Wowbrary notices to receive emails about general library news and newly added materials in our collections!  Follow us on Facebook for up-to-date information about programs, special events, and other general library-related information:  http://www.facebook.com/HPL.books .

The library is normally open Monday-Friday, 10am to 7pm, and Saturday, 10am to1pm. Please visit or call the library (315) 824-3060 during these hours for assistance. The book drop at the front of the building is always available for your convenience.
