(Oneida, NY – Feb. 14, 2014) With this year’s heavy snowfall Oneida City Police remind motorists to use caution when exiting a driveway, parking lot or intersection. High snow bank reduce visibility of oncoming traffic or pedestrians. Motorists approaching intersections or approaching motorists exiting a driveway are reminded that the driver of the vehicle may have a hard time observing oncoming traffic. Slowing down and keeping vehicle windows and lights clear of snow can also help.
A reminder to those plowing snow: it is illegal to deposit snow onto someone else property without their permission or to plow snow onto a public street or sidewalk.
The operation of snowmobiles on city streets, sidewalks or parks is illegal with the exception of those streets listed below.
North Lake Street between Verona Street and N. Main Street.
Williams Street between the railroad tracks and north city limits.
Cobb Street between Williams Street and Canal Road.
Canal Road between Schoolheimer Road and Cobb Street
Dump Road from Route 5 to a point 2700 feet south of Route 5.
