(Hamilton, NY – Feb. 2014) Join us as we transform Hamilton into Seussville on Saturday March 1. This all-day, community-wide event celebrates the wonderful, weird and whacky works of Dr. Seuss.

For more information and a calendar of events, stop by the library or visit colgatebookstore.com/events06/2014/03/seuss_saturday.html.

We are pleased to announce that the Hamilton Public Library and the Colgate Bookstore will once again be offering the Chenango Valley Scribes Writing and Illustrating Contest. This contest is for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Entry forms and guidelines have already been sent home with area school children. Additional copies are available at the Colgate Bookstore and the library. All entries must be submitted to the Colgate Bookstore or the library by 5 p.m. Friday, April 4.

The culminating reception and award ceremony will be held at the bookstore Friday, May 16, at 6:30 p.m., with entries remaining on display at the library through mid-June.

Are you looking for a way to share your creative talents? The library is looking forward to hosting a Community Art Show again this spring. We encourage community members to select one of their favorite pieces to showcase. Participants are also invited to submit a one-page description of their artwork or a brief biography for inclusion in our exhibition catalog.

All artwork and artist information should be brought to the library during our regular hours between Monday, March 10, and Saturday, March 15. Entry forms will be available at the circulation desk that week and should accompany all artwork. The Community Art Exhibit will be displayed from the end of March through April 25.
