(Canastota, NY – March 2014) The International Boxing Hall of Fame recently announced former super featherweight champion of the world John John Molina will attend festivities planned for the 25th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Weekend June 5 through 8.
“John John Molina provided boxing fans with so many memorable fights during his championship career,” said Hall of Fame director Edward Brophy. “We are looking forward to welcoming him from his home in Puerto Rico to Canastota for the first time to participate in weekend activities.”
Born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, Molina turned pro in 1986 and during his 15-year professional career compiled a 52-7 (33 KOs) record. A three-time super featherweight world champion, he held the WBO title once (1989) and the IBF title twice (1989-1990, 1992-1995). Among those he scored victories over include Juan LaPorte, Tony Lopez, Manuel Medina, Bernard Taylor, Gregorio Vargas, Wilson Rodriguez, Emanuel Augustus and Ben Tackie.
