(Morrisville, NY – March 2014) The Morrisville State College athletic department has named hunt seat rider Morgan Wilsberg (Mattituck, N.Y.) and men’s basketball forward Sherard King (Bronx, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 23.

WilsbergM13Wilsberg helped guide the hunt seat equestrian team to reserve honors at the Skidmore Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) competition on Saturday, while posting two wins and collecting reserve high point rider honors of her own.

Wilsberg took home the blue ribbon in open equitation over fences and followed with her second class win of the day in the intermediate equitation on the flat class. Her top finishes tied her for high point rider honors with two other competitors. Wilsberg was second in the ride-off competition, taking home reserve high point accolades.

The freshman is a graduate of Mattituck-Cutchogue High and is majoring in equine science at Morrisville State.

KING-MOR-MBB-1314King assisted the men’s basketball team as they wrapped up the regular season with a 3-0 week. In three games he tallied 20 points and added 24 rebounds, hitting 15-of-20 shots from the free throw line. Fourteen of his rebounds on the week came on the offensive glass.

King helped secure a second seed for the Mustangs in the conference championship tournament with a collegiate best performance against Penn State Abington, as he posted 11 points and 10 rebounds for his first collegiate double-double on senior day.

The senior is a graduate of Taft High and is majoring in applied psychology at Morrisville State. He is the son of Kimberly King and Stefoni Harrell.
