(Morrisville, NY – Feb. 25, 2014) The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its 2013-14 women’s basketball award winners, naming Morrisville State College freshman guard, Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.) the NEAC Rookie of the Year.
Anderson started all 25 games for the Mustangs at point guard, and on the season posted 336 points, 76 assists, and 90 steals, while playing an average 35.6 minutes per game in her inaugural collegiate campaign.
Anderson posted 20+ point games five times on the season, including a collegiate high 26 points against Cazenovia. In early January, Anderson tied the NEAC record for steals recorded in a single game, posting 11 against Penn College of Technology, to earn co-NEAC Player of the Week accolades.
Joining an elite group in the top of five statistical categories within the NEAC, Anderson ranked 5th in free throw percentage (71%), 8th in assists (76), 3rd in steals (90), 9th in points (336), and is 11th in points per game (13.4) following the conclusion of the regular season.
Her 3.4 steals per game ranks her nationally 10th overall in all of Division III.
A versatile player with the ability to score from anywhere on the court, Anderson was often guarded by opponents’ best defensive players, and took on a leading role for the Mustangs throughout the season on both ends of the floor.
A graduate of Unadilla Valley High, Anderson is majoring in human performance and health promotion at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Wendy and Steve Anderson of West Edmeston.
