Miller, Geswaldo named Mustang Athletes of the Week

(Morrisville, NY – April 16, 2014) The Morrisville State College athletics department has named freshman Liz Miller (East Greenbush, N.Y.) and sophomore Louie Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) its Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 13.

MILLER-MOR-WSB-2014Miller, centerfielder and lead-off for the Mustangs softball team, led Morrisville State from the plate in a 10 game span across five days this week, as the team posted a 3-7 overall record on the week.

Miller recorded 16 hits in 35 at bats for a .457 batting average, six of her hits were doubles, and one a triple, while posting nine runs and registering seven RBI’s. She also added three stolen bases to her tallies on the week, while posting a best .750 twice at the plate, once against Keuka and a second against Wells.

At centerfield, Miller made some spectacular plays to lead the defensive charge in the outfield, recording 18 putouts.

The freshman currently leads the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) in batting average (.468), and doubles (10) and is fifth overall in total hits (29). A graduate of Columbia High, Miller is majoring in individual studies at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Julie and Tom Miller of East Greenbush.

GESWALDO-MOR-MLX-2014Geswaldo guided the Morrisville State men’s lacrosse team to a pair of wins across the week in conference action, tallying 16 points on six goals and 10 assists in addition to gathering five ground balls.

On Wednesday, Geswaldo tallied a collegiate-high nine points on two goals and seven assists in the win over Cobleskill, adding four ground balls to his stats on the day. He went on to post a match-best seven points on four goals and three assists in a 22-6 onslaught over Wells on Saturday.

The sophomore leads the NEAC in points with 45, having tallied 27 goals and 18 assists to date for Morrisville State, who currently sits in second overall in the conference with a 4-1 record, a 10-3 mark to date on the season.

 

The graduate of Lafayette High is majoring in residential construction at Morrisville State. He is the son of Vicky and Louie Geswaldo of Lafayette.
